Product Description: Down-Cut Bit

The down-cut bit leaves a clean top edge, making it great for cutting shallow dados, rabbets, and visible slots. When cutting dados or grooves with a down-cut bit, be sure to slow the feed rate to allow more time for chip removal.

1/8 Inch Shank Down-Cut CNC Router Bits

Ideal for cutting and milling on a variety of materials, including MDF, acrylic, PVC, resin, plastic, chipboard, composite board, melamine board, solid wood, native wood, plywood, and lotus plate. Tungsten carbide router bits that are compatible with CNC Router Machining Centers and Woodworking Machines.

Comparison: UP-Cut vs. DOWN-Cut

The down-cut bit (left) leaves very clean edges, while the up-cut version (right) is far better at evacuating chips, but this action can fray the edges of the cut to some degree. Up-cut bits are efficient at evacuating chips from the hole or slot they are cutting, especially when the depth is 1/4-inch or more. Down-cut bits require a slightly slower feed rate to allow the bit more time to throw chips out and re-cut them into smaller pieces that can be thrown from the hole or slot.
